Metaxas & Hager

Background
Having worked on a strong portfolio of work for Rod Hager in the past it was Evoke who Rod Hager & Arthur Metaxas turned to when they came together and formed Metaxas Hager Lawyers.

Approach
The client’s brief to Evoke called for a prestige look for the space as a whole.
Arthur’s personal artwork collection became the focal point for the new reception area the distinctive rich colours that feature in the paintings proved to be the inspiration for the inviting entry space. The selections made such as that of the rust colored chenille fabric with its lush texture can all be drawn back to the artwork.
Architectural elements such as deep set niches were all designed to enhance the artwork. An intimate & elegant atmosphere was created not only with the colour palette but also via the use of curved bulkheads. These bulkheads truly define the client waiting and reception counter areas, the final polish to the space was the installation of b
eautifully detailed cornice work.
Following off from the reception we are led into the main work environment, where we find rich brown toned timber cabinetwork set off against a soft palette of glistening warm whites, taupe & pewter which make up the geometric printed fabric of the workstations. This area carries through that subtle look of elegance.

Challenges
The location found for the new office overlooked St Georges Tce and the Supreme Court Gardens. The space available meant it was going to be difficult for the number of staff required to be accommodated. Tight planning and the use of customized built-in office furniture were implemented.
The glove fitted design of the built-in office furniture for all of the offices to maximized storage and working space whilst producing a clean uncluttered look. Glazed office frontages were also utilized to allow the view and the natural light to penetrate into the core of the office environment benefiting all of the staff.
